The First Impressions Ministry serves a vital role
in the ministry of our church. We are the "first impression"
guests receive of our church.
As a ministry, we partner with people
who are investing and inviting their un-churched neighbors, co-workers,
friends and family to attend church. They've finally gotten them
to agree to come, maybe just once, and they are entrusting us
with this relationship. One wrong word or inappropriate move can
blow it! We take this responsibility very seriously and need volunteers
that will love people and do the same.
The First Impressions Ministry is divided into three
areas of service.
| Facilities
& Grounds |
| This ministry area involves the upkeep, maintenance
and appearance of the actual building/facility and surrounding
grounds areas. Trash must be collected during all service
times as well as during any large group events. Our parking
area must be kept clean and the lawn must be trimmed, with
seasonal flowers and plants in their best condition and all
areas weeded. |
| Greeting/Parking/Hosts |
| Includes parking attendants, greeters, directional
guides (both inside and outside our facilities), ushers, medical
assistants, bus & van drivers, and hosts. |
| Hospitality Ministry |
| Involves those serving and preparing food
and drinks for any event sponsored by Hope. Volunteers are
needed to prepare coffee/refreshments for both Sunday services
and other special events. |

You should arrive one hour before service time. Go to the Volunteer
Central room located on the 2nd floor and get your nametag. During
the first 30 minutes, have refreshments and be in community with
other team members. This is time to review bulletin inserts and
information so that you can answer guest questions. You will also
receive any other updates or happenings in the church.
Share prayer requests, praises and pray as a group. Why is this
important? It creates relationships with fellow team members --
what Hope calls "community." Praying together prepares
our hearts to go out to serve others as a team.
Everyone should be in their assigned positions 30 minutes before
the worship service begins -- ready and excited to welcome our
guests! We never know what burdens the people we greet are carrying
and we could be the ones to make a real difference in their lives
that day -- an eternal difference. We SMILE and look people in
the eye as we greet!
As we focus on others instead of ourselves, we limit our personal
conversations with friends/co-hosts by saying, "I'm on duty
now, let me talk to you later."

All volunteers are required to attend one training/orientation
class before serving independently.

- Meet new friends and connect in a small group environment
- Help others by eliminating distractions and intimidation that
comes from the size of our church
- Know that YOU just might be a factor in someone coming to
Christ

First Serves are one time volunteer opportunities designed specifically
with exploration in mind. They are a great way for you to explore
different ministries and a variety of serving roles. Show up once
and move on; or show up once and stay for a season.
